HEROES
In 2005, the first sculpture, Hero, was wound from thoughts about archaic kouroi that were strangely smiling to me from different museums and postcards.
Photo sessions with Andriy Sahajdakovskyj and a book full of wisdom about biblical personages were the starting points too. From the very book, a core name of the series arose: Herod (in Greek, Ἡρῴδης), which means a descendant of heroes.
My heroes exist as fragments of a sculpture, torsos. They are intentionally hewn to specify the contrast of an unfinished or temporary image that over time definitely gets an eternal life.
